Ceramics shaped with purpose, for life’s simple rituals.

MEET THE MAKER
MEET THE MAKER
Rooted in the Pacific Northwest and based in Kirkland Washington, Alie Miller is the hands behind BlackBirdy Studio creating pottery shaped with purpose for life’s simple rituals. Each piece is made blending rustic functionality with a quiet, timeless presence meant to be lived with every day.
Alie first met clay in college over 40 years ago, and while life offered many paths, she always maintained a studio and found her way back to the wheel. With time and experience ceramics became more than a hobby, it is her connection to community: a way to gather, share, and mark the moments that make a home feel like home.
From sipping cups and pour pots to garlic keepers and tableware, Alie makes pieces to be used often and cherished deeply. Pieces that carry stories forward and with care, can be handed down for generations.
Local Pickup: Work is always available for local pickup in Kirkland, WA. Please contact Alie to schedule a pickup appointment. Each year, Alie also opens her garden and studio for the annual BlackBirdy Studio & Friends Marketplace. This is a lively, feel-good gathering that brings talented makers together with the local community. The event happens the last Saturday in June each year. Join us on Instagram to stay connected!
